Thank you so much to all of our loyal customers over the years. We have had an absolute ball creating hats for you, and will miss being in the shop...which has been a fixture of Castle Street for over 40 years.

Alyson (on the left in stripes) will still be running from her home studio in Godalming, providing:

It is with mixed feelings that we must announce the imminent closure of the Mad Hatter in Guildford. Our owner and manager Carolien Jones has decided to retire, and while we wish her the very best for a happy and relaxing retirement with her family (she certainly deserves it!), it does sadly mean that the shop will be closing at the end of September.

The good news is that we are consequently having a huge sale! 50% off all stock items, including all hats and headpieces, pashminas and gloves. Also included are any Rainbow Club shoes that we have in stock (though any ordered in specially will be at full price). Pop along to the shop and grab a bargain - for any upcoming events, or think ahead to 2024 and beyond!

The further good news is that Alyson, one of the Mad Hatter milliners, is setting up her own millinery business, offering bespoke hats and fascinators, alongside a selection of ready-to-wear pieces. A true Mad Hatter first - a bespoke feather pocket square! Customer Sophie started by asking us to customise this fuchsia headpiece to complement her amazing shoes and handbag - no problem at all 👍👌 She then asked if there was any possibility we could make a matching pocket square for her partner. We were thrilled to rise to the challenge, despite never having done it before!

We're really pleased with the results, and looking forward to seeing both outfits together for a wedding later in the summer 🤩
