BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
(And I realise this is bigger for me than it is for you, but….) ☺️

I HAVE A NEW JOB - I am now officially on the small making team at the wonderful Sew and Sew Interior design company.

For the past couple of months I’ve been ‘learning the ropes’, trying hard to prove my worth, (not always getting it right), but loving being part of this really amazing, down to earth and incredibly talented team.

Sew and Sew isn’t your average interior design Co. They not only inspire you with stunning fabrics and wallpapers, they physically make everything by hand in their workroom. From curtains, blinds and soft furnishings through to beautifully upholstered headboards.

So friends, followers…
Tilly and The Machine is on a slightly different journey as I make and learn with Sew and Sew. Thank you to everyone who’s followed/supported/learned with me. I’m so excited for this new chapter, but of course I really will miss teaching, especially to you little ones.

I urge you to carry on as much as possible with the sewing and just really have fun with it. It’s such an awesome skill to have and it will only get better with time.

All our plans this weekend had to be cancelled as we’ve all got the dreaded winter colds. Lots of TV on but we managed to find some time to make our thank you presents for little one’s leaving Nursery and big one’s starting her new School!

It’s always the way isn’t it - when you try to get your child to love what you love - they just won’t! 😆
Little and often is the key I think!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve been getting quite a few requests for children’s sewing lessons lately! I’m so sorry that I can’t offer anything right now as I’ve recently moved close to Chelmsford . I don’t have my old beloved workroom anymore however I do hope offer something next year as I really miss teaching and sharing this awesome skill.

It feels like there’s something in the air at the moment, with more people wanting to be able to fix their own stuff…

If you have a sewing machine at home, collecting dust and you feel a lack of confidence - why not give it a go - what’s the worst that can happen?
And if you do get in a tangle I’m here to help!

Here’s my latest little job I’m trying to fit into my dining room while I wait for hubby to convert my garage , wink wink!

I’ve had this pattern sitting in my inbox since June 2024 and I’ve wanted to make this set ever since.
I found myself having a rare hour today
(Kids out/no workroom to work!)
of finally being able to print it out, stick it together and finally make a start with some hope of actually making myself something to wear!

I’m having a clothing crisis lately of my old clothes feeling like they’ve lost their shape - and I myself am getting older and my style needs to slightly shift.

But I seem to have expensive taste when it comes to things I actually like - or maybe I just appreciate quality now I’m in my forties (plus lol)

So I have a dream of having a few GO-TO patterns that I can create in different fabrics for different looks/seasons - so here’s the start of that (hopefully) journey.

Check back in 2027 to see the finished article 😂

It may looks complicated but half hour- 1 hour of your time, once you have the pattern printed and glued.. you can keep forever and trace off any size you want.

Hello everyone.
Sew I’ve a big announcement to make! After some long hard months of unknowns I can finally say
WE ARE MOVING! But we aren’t going far… we’re moving to the beautiful village of Stock.

I’m sad to say there will be no more workshops in 2025 as we have a lot of work ahead of us as a family.

I have absolutely loved 2025 because it’s the first year that my children’s classes really got off the ground and it’s been such a joy to teach you little ones - you’ve honestly astounded me. The way you’ve taken to the sewing machine, your cuteness and your imagination - I really really really hope you continue to practice and enjoy this fabulous hobby whenever you can.
I always say that it’s how I started, sewing as a child through to my adulthood - it certainly can give you a career. But sewing for the love of it is even better!

Adults too - I’ve been incredibly privileged to teach you. I too hope you continue to practice and enjoy it - it’s the only way you get good and the only way I know what on earth I’m doing. I’m still learning too.

So until next year, I hope, KEEP SEWING!
