Did you know that Dementia is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the UK? is working hard to change that, and on Sunday October 11th, Abbie will be running The Royal Parks Half Marathon to help raise money for this fantastic organisation that is working hard to raise awareness around the risks of dementia and working hard find a cure.

Our team has been tracking donations in our Fundraiser Frame for Abbie’s run and we’ll be pushing hard towards our goal of raising £2,000 now that the finish line is in sight. Before & after a brass bobbin ✨

Though our imitation brass finish isn’t fully complete in these before photos, we love how this comparison shows just how much visual interest the bobbin detail along the inside of this frame adds to the completed mirror design. For many of us, August is a time to slow down, but this past month in the PI workshop was absolutely bustling! Before we get too stuck into the back-to-school vibes, we wanted to take a moment to look back at a very busy month in the workshop. 🖼️🪞✨

What does one call a group of bobbins, we wonder?

A babble? A brilliance? A blip? Framed for a girl’s bedroom, this babble of bobbin-framed prints will look brilliant above the bed.

Gilding in the heat is such a challenge, and when working with gold leaf, a rogue breeze through a cracked window can literally be quite costly.

But our head gilder was in the workshop early to beat the worst of the heat and did a beautiful job of gilding this white gold beaten frame. 🤍

Fitted with dielectric mirror glass, this white gold tv mirror has now made its way to cooler climates and is now at its new home at a beautiful hotel in Scotland.

We’ve had loads of orders for our painted bamboo mirrors, which have been requested in a whole rainbow of colours. 🌈

From teal to yellow and terracotta to sage, we love seeing the colours our customers choose for these mirrors.

Another head-turning piece that made its way through the workshop was this rounded cushion framed mirror.

The intricacy of the craqueleur finish is revealed upon closer inspection and always inspires some oohs and ahhs from passers-by.

And lastly, a little look at some polished black frames with antique gold beading.

This is a truly classic finish that never goes out of style. 💫

The last few years were a big flush of burgundy, but this year we’re noticing a trend towards the deeper purple tones of the anthocyanin family being used in our bespoke frame and mirror projects. Think aubergine, plum, artichoke leaves, and beetroot. Rich tones that might read as black upon first glance, but have a real softness and a warmth to their depth. Colours like Farrow & Ball’s Pelt, which we used here to make our iconic Chequered Design. Paired with a creamy white, this mirror exudes contemporary sophistication and offers a great alternative to good old black and white. ✨

Introducing The Mount Room.

Being bespoke picture framers, we often get asked, “How would you frame this?” Whilst the answer is rarely straightforward and so often depends on the environment in which the completed piece will hang, our new venture, The Mount Room, is a more simple answer to this question. 

Without having to take any other considerations on board, the framed pieces that feature in this collection are a good indication of *how we would frame this*. Ranging from colourful and contemporary to timelessly traditional, the frames are all beautifully hand-finished here in our East Sussex workshop and ready to hang. 

Though many of these pieces are wall-ready, there are a number of unframed works available too, which can be purchased as-is or can be framed to suit your particular style or scheme. As with all our bespoke work, flexibility is at the core of this offering and we would be delighted to work with you to frame any of these prints in a style of your choosing. 

Initially pulling from an extensive collection of pieces that Patrick built over his 50-year career, The Mount Room will be eclectic and constantly evolving, spanning from a signed Francis Bacon triptych to reproductions of Victorian botanicals and copper-plate paintings of polo players. If you’re looking for unique art for your interiors, we would love for you to take a look at this initial drop and check back regularly for new work.

A great way to add a little more visual interest to a framed mirror is to add an embellishment on the corners, and these whitewashed roundels do a marvellous job of elevating this bamboo mirror and providing extra dimension. Finished in a warm timber stain with a white wash, we love the sun-bleached rustic look of this bespoke finish and can’t wait to see this mirror in-situ. 🤍
