I’m continuing with making designs which tie in with my original Sci-fi book series, Operation Hourglass, and here’s the latest. When I made the list of what I wanted to make, right at the top of that list was emblems and badges for the HMS Repulse’s air-wing squadrons. So here’s the first of those, for 42nd Squadron, also known as the “Shortswords”
Flying the AF-42A Peregrine Airspace Superiority Fighter, the Shortswords are the Repulse’s primary fighter squadron, under the command of the ship’s deputy CAG, Lt. Cmdr Anitra Soriano. She’s a generational New Yorker, from both Irish and Italian ancestry, and is known for both her calculating and clinical approach to air combat, and for her volcanic temper. Indeed, that’s where she gained her callsign, “Landmine”, due to the fact that she will go off like one when her patience snaps. This is partially due to a lifetime of having to correct people who mis-spell her first name…
