One of the places I have the pleasure of tutoring in, it’s a beautiful studio with amazing space and equipment and a gorgeous wee community to go with it.

You’ll find me working at the dressmaking clubs most Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings and the occasional classes.

If you’re free and interested, pop along next Saturday to the open day and see what it’s all about, there’s classes for all abilities whether you’re starting your sewing journey or just looking for that excuse to grab some precious “me time” and sew along in the company of some wonderful and supportive folk😍

It’s been so long since I last posted on here but it’s time for me to get back out there and get some alterations done!

For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Moira, seamstress and owner here at Stitches For Six. In 2017 I started this page with the aim of putting my sewing experience to good use while working from home and since then the support I’ve received has been outstanding and the doors it’s opened for me both work wise and on a personal level is just amazing.

Services I offer include alterations, bespoke dress making and other projects as well as soft furnishings. Since august 2022 I’ve also been teaching Dressmaking with south Lanarkshire council and you will also sometimes find me supporting sessions at the dress making club at Sew You Can here in Hamilton.

This brings me to the point of this post. Recently, due to work getting done in the house, I’ve been unable to have customers come to me for fittings. Although I’ve still been working I’m eager to get back to normal services and so arrangements have been made so that I can offer fittings from the Sew You Can studio on certain dates. It’s my intention to let you know on here when I’ll be in the studio. Fittings have always been by appointment and it’s best if this continues but if you have items that can be dropped off with instructions for me at these times then that works too.

I will be at the studio this Thursday between 5pm and 9pm. If you would like to make an appointment for a fitting please get in touch, and if you just want to pop in to say hello and drop something off I’d love to see you.

So my favourite fabric shop has started doing my favourite waterproof fabric in one of my favourite William Morris prints - I thought it’d be rude not to buy some in.

With Mother’s Day at the end of the month I’ve been making a few wee gift boxes if you’re looking for a little minding to give your mum or even just wanting to treat yourself or somebody special.

Made to Measure Roman Blinds

Going through my photo albums and face book gallery I’ve realised that this is a service I offer that not many people will actually know about. I’m not the best at taking pictures of finished work before handing it over 🙄.

All the blinds I make are hand stitched for that quality finish where no visible stitching runs through the front of the fabric. I provide top quality tracks with inbuilt safety mechanisms along with a measuring service and an optional fitting service. I also provide the linings and interlinings, all you need to do is shop for your fabric and I’ll do the rest 😍

From our family to yours. Wishing you all the best for 2022. To all my family and friends and customers old and new I’d like to say a huge thank you and let you know how much I appreciate all the support you give me. I’m a bit late to the game posting this as I have been busy lazing about and enjoying these guys for the last week but am ready to get on with any jobs you might be needing done.

Side note- I decided to start on a zip replacement just now and have just managed to cut a chunk of hair out while writing this and scratching my forehead at the same time with a stitch ripper in my hand so I might wait till tomorrow to get properly started back 🙄
