All ready for this ‘summer’ weather! Where has the sun gone? It certainly feels very autumnal and I feel more like duvet days than long walks. Anyone else dug out their woollens?

It’s all about the detail! My dungarees pattern is made up of two pieces at the front resulting in a central seam. With my new whale song print, this called for some very careful pattern matching to make sure the sea creatures looked complete and to avoid spoiling the flow of the pattern across the front of the garment.

I like to finish these off with top stitching down the central seams and around the edge for a neat and tidy finish.👌

Spring launch fabric print - whale song. This is a great all year print, inspired by my son’s love of the ocean. He loves to visit the sea and will get immersed whatever the weather!

His favourite book for many years was Julia Donaldson’s The Snail and the Whale and we were so excited when it was turned into a film a few Christmas’s ago. It remains one of our favourite Julia Donaldson films. The soundtrack is lovely.

So I had to create a whale themed print. My daughter wanted turtles and dolphins included so I have incorporated those too and to add a natural foliage feel I included some delicate strands of seaweed.

This print is available as organic cotton pinafore dresses, light cotton twill dungarees and trousers, organic jersey romper and trousers, bandana bib and organic cotton muslin swaddle. Pictured are the light cotton twill trousers.

🌳 LITTLE OAK LEAF 🌳

Growing next to our local village school, on the village green are some mighty oak trees. The children refer to them as mummy oak and daddy oak.

I think oak trees are one of my favourite trees. I love the shape of the leaves and how every one is unique. And the fun of finding acorns with the children. They grow so magnificently huge and provide wonderful shade in the summer. Though one of the later trees to come into leaf in spring, they seem to be one of the last to fall.

Our mummy and daddy oak trees are the inspiration behind these little oak leaf baby booties. Hand knitted in a pale green merino, silk and cashmere blend and hand embroidered with little oak leaves.

I’m just working on the embroidery today and stitching the booties together, then they will be finished.
