Just had a phone call from a young man:

Hello, I’m after a shirt that will take cufflinks for a wedding tomorrow, can you tell me where your shop is?

I can’t help you I’m afraid, we only make shirts we don’t do any ready-to-wear.

There’s no where in Hastings that sell them.

I know, but have you tried M&S?

I’ve just bought my shoes from there but they don’t do the shirts.

Do you have to wear cuff-links?

Well yes, I’m the groom!!

This latest bunch from Huddersfield Fine Worsteds has been a real success. As the name ‘Voyager’ suggests it makes great suits for travelling - within a week of receiving it we were commissioned to made a couple of cream Dinner Jackets for clients planning a cruise.

It also makes great suits for weddings, especially in this weather, but it’s also ideal for those men who ‘run hot’ and appreciate a lightweight cloth. Available in all colours.

At this time of year, wedding season, we get lots of calls asking if we sell off-the-peg suits or provide a hire service. We don’t, in fact nobody does in Hastings. You can’t even get a suit or smart jacket and trousers from M&S in-store anymore.

I inevitably direct them to Eastbourne or Tunbridge Wells. If bespoke isn’t your thing, or you need something short notice, hopefully this post will save your time and point you in the right direction.

EDIT: as a result of this article we’ve had a number of enquiries, so to expand on what we do is we make wonderful garments for special occasions and for people who struggle with fit/size/fabric choice/style when buying off-the-peg clothing.

We do not carry out alterations to ready-to-wear garments, nor do we offer a measurement service for clothes to then be made by other tailors or retailers.
