There’s something really lovely about being a small business. We get to recognise the names that reorder, hear the stories behind the orders, see our socks popping up in photos from places we’ve never been and, every now and then, hear from someone who’s had the same pair for years.

We might regret posting this one… 😂 But after our last “icks” post, we thought we’d push our luck.

Maybe we’ve just got a different idea of what “value” means. We’d rather buy something good, wear it for years and know who made it than constantly buy more because it’s cheap.

And as a small Scottish sock brand making everything in Hawick, we’re never going to be the cheapest option on the internet. Nor do we want to be.

Our icks went viral, so we thought we should introduce ourselves properly. 👋

We’re House of Cheviot, a wee sock brand based in Hawick, Scotland. There are 19 wonderful people behind what we do, from knitting and linking to finishing, checking and packing the socks that eventually find their way to feet all over the world.

We’ve been doing this for a while, so you might have spotted our socks on film and television, in Harry Potter, Wonder Woman and The Gentlemen, on Team Scotland and even on some rather famous feet.

The world got very good at making cheap socks so we decided to get very good at making great ones.

For us, that means good yarn, careful knitting, proper attention to detail and a team who still care about getting every pair right.
