This weekends project. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of making this coat. I've never used boiled 100% wool before, or sewn this style of coat.
It was so easy to sew!
The pattern was very easy to follow. There is a separate online tutorial for lining the coat, which I didn't use as my phone screen is too small... So I just used my noggin. I think though, if I was a beginner, I'd have preferred the full instructions to have been in the booklet.... I'd recommend this pattern to anyone with intermediate sewing skills, or a beginner who was a few projects in, with a bit of support.
It's a very satisfying make.

Pattern - The Coat by The Avid Seamstress bought from Liberty London With a £15 voucher they sent me via email newsletter. That was worth ticking the box to receive liberty spam!
Fabric - Boiled wool fabric from eBay. Satin lining also from eBay.

1st Autumn/Winter outfit complete.
White boxy blouse in random black spot print viscose and black fabric covered buttons. Wide and tapered leg trousers in plum needle corduroy with cuffed hems, inset pockets, fly front and large plummy button from my 3 generations button stash.
10 hours pattern making and sewing. I think it's worth it 😁.

I haven't sewn anything in AGES! So I made my boxy Jacket design in the Frida Kahlo inspired Indian block print. This time in the blue colour way and made for my lovely Mum.
I love this print!

A bit of an upcycle project this afternoon. My son's old Hawaiian shirt hacked into a summer top for my daughter.
*Chopped off the sleeves.
*Took 10cm off the length at the back and graded into the original centre front length to create a front tie.
*Added two darts to front and back shoulders to reduce shoulder width and create a girl shape, rather than the original boxy boy shape.

I had a great day sewing with a good friend today. I've had this cut out for about 6 weeks. It's a Vintage pattern I picked up in Oxfam a few years ago.
I've used a Linen viscose in an old rose pink. There are huge hidden inset pockets. Love a pocket.





I LOVE this skirt.

These have been on my list for AGES! High waisted, V fronted waistband shorts with a concealed zip in the back rise. Made from a pair of my Granny's Sanderson (I think) curtains.
They are exactly as I imagined. There may be a few more of these in the pipeline this summer...

A good 8 hours work - definitely worth the effort.

Boxy blouse with boxy pleats and a small turtle neck collar - Based on a vintage Chelsea Girl blouse.
Every time I get an idea, I have to draft the pattern straight away and the 'I need to make this' sewing list, grows and grows. I think it's a creative mania, definitely an obsession. Especially considering I do this as my employed day job, as well my hobby!
I don't have the fabric for this one, which is unusual, so it's going to the bottom of the pile. It's about 6th in the queue, unless I find the perfect fabric.
