One of Fin’s expedition team mates is holding a quiz night in a couple of weeks to help raise funds for their Belize trip. Fancy a crack at it? Details are below.

You’ve got to be in it to win it, as they say!

Well we’ve had a busy couple of months here at the sewing room. Lots of partying with a bit of sewing thrown in! It was our youngest son’s 15th birthday in June swiftly followed by our 22nd wedding anniversary and oldest son’s 21st birthday in July. (Oh and I may have fulfilled a bucket list item - a Pet Shop Boys concert in Liverpool! )

I managed some prom alterations - how stunning is this blue, did some other alterations and repairs and then this ⬇️

Take a guess at how many napkins were made for this order?

200! Yep that’s right 200. All done for a local event venue. Cut into strips, then squares, pinned on two sides, sewn then pinned along the other two sides and sewn again. I’m pretty sure I had square eyes after that!

Just a couple of the things on the sewing table this week.Any guesses?

Well it’s been a long time since I posted hasn’t it!

Lots has happened - I’m sure you don’t want me to bore you all with the details. But rest assured I haven’t stopped sewing, in fact my machine is more in demand than ever!

Pics to follow - when I remember to take them!!

Today’s news fabrics. This bundle is Joules fabric, bought in fat quarters, so each piece will comfortably make 2/3 masks depending on style and size.

Photos don’t show colours properly, top is a forest green scene, then red with white stars, then navy with woodland animals and finally colourful stripes.

Let me know if you’d like a mask made. Masks are £5 each.

More fabrics to follow later

So due to Boris’s announcement regarding the wearing of masks by 24th July I’ve been inundated with requests.

I’ve decided to open a second page, Masks by Tracey Mc, to just deal with mask orders. This way any enquiries hopefully won’t get lost amongst my other sewing work enquiries. So if you’d like to order masks please follow that page and message me through there so that I can keep them separate.

Many thanks

Tracey

More bespoke masks, elastic fitting around the head rather than the ears, to accommodate two hearing aids.

All masks will be £5 each and sealed once made. Different styles, fabric etc will be available and all masks will have an opening inside to accommodate a disposable filter should you so wish. These are currently not included.

Ok people - some positive news for a change. My nerve pain is subsiding so I’m going to try and get bank to the sewing machine this weekend. Which means - making face coverings/masks/whatever you want to call them.

I have patterns, I have fabric, I have elastic, I have nose wires, I have ties - we are a go!

I’ll post what I make this weekend and it’ll be fastest finger first this time.

Let me know if you’d like something in a particular colour scheme, I’ve got a decent amount of fabric in all colours of the rainbow so should have something for everyone.

I’ll be making adult and children’s masks.

Pleated - these will have nosewires, be double layers of fabric and an open pocket inside for you to put your own filters in if you so wish.

Shaped - these will have nosewires and will be triple thickness. I’m working out if I can make these with an opening to add a filter too so watch this space!

Hi everyone - another face coverings update.

I had intended to start sewing and constructing the coverings this week but my left shoulder has had other ideas. One telephone appointment with the GP later and it seems I may have a trapped nerve in my shoulder. He’s given me muscle relaxants to take every evening and if theyre no good it’s a physio call next (hopefully it won’t come to that).

I’m going to see how I can get on making what I’ve already cut out. But it could be a slow and quite literally painful process.

Just wanted to keep you all in the loop x

Hi everyone - quick update on the masks situation.

Amazon have just delivered my supplies.

I’m going to draft some designs tomorrow and then I’ll get cutting and sewing.

I’ve limited the styles I’ll be offering to those listed below

⭐️Basic pleated with elastic straps

⭐️Basic pleated with fabric ties

⭐️Fitted with nose wire and opening for filter (not supplied) with elastic strap

⭐️Fitted with nose wire and opening for filter (not included) with fabric ties

I’ll be making limited amount on a first come first served basis until I can gauge demand.

If you would like children’s masks please let me know. I will make a small number of these to begin with.

Masks will be £5.50 each and this will include p and p to anywhere in the UK.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not doing this to make money, I am doing this because I have been asked so many times these last few weeks if I would. I held off until now as I didn’t want people to get confused with PPE etc. I am not profiteering, I will be barely covering my costs. I just want to help out in a time of crisis.
