What do I think of the new Mamas & Papas UK Kudo carrier?
I think that from around 3-6 months until parents feel uncomfortable carrying their child on the front it would be a credible carrier.
HOWEVER, I don't feel the high price is warrented. Facing forward puts more wear and tear on the parent's posture, and is a time limited position - there is no way I would carry a 3 year old in this position as suggested in the instructions. It doesn't offer back or hip carries either.
Usage aside - my biggest bugbear with this carrier is the instructions. They are, frankly, terrifying.
Preventing free movement of a child's head could result in obstructed airways, slumping, or their head being forced into a parent's chest. The images designed as instructions for this carrier depict babies in this position and it worries me.
Mamas and papas are a well known brand - they have a responsibility to their customers and I feel strongly that they are failing them in this instance.
Please don't let it take the death or injury of a child to re-examime the instructions and lower age limit.
