It probably won’t come as a surprise to you that I have emotions about the inanimate items I sell.

But the emotion I feel for this pretty winter picture may surprise you. It’s guilt.

Why? Because it was one of a pair. And I only bought one.

Why? Because the other one had an inch long air bubble in the glass.

Back when these were produced, it clearly didn’t bother the buyer. But my critical 21st century eye just couldn’t cope.

Did I make a mistake? Am I being too fussy? What would you have done?

For the past few days Yard Cat Nelly is demanding food constantly. She’s laying down fat in readiness for the colder months. And it’s working. I can see her body change shape almost before my eyes.

November is off to a dramatic start with on and off torrential downpours and very gusty winds. Yard Cat Nelly is most unimpressed, she’s taken to the barn for the first time since late April.

The dahlias are having their final hurrah!

There are loads of fallers, so apple crumble is in the oven.

And today I cut what I think is probably the last rose of ‘22. She’s not perfect. Her petals are tough and her leaves are spotty. But she’s a survivor and a beauty in my eyes.

Last week, with the expectation that the weather will revert to the seasonal norm sometime soon, I dug up our geraniums and brought them inside.

I haven’t done this before, using them as annuals in the past. But time to get frugal. And with the trees coming down, I now have sunnier windowsills of course! What I don’t have though are green fingers. The leaves have already begun to turn yellow! Hoping it’s just the shock and they’ll get over it.

With the clocks changing last night, it’s not yet 5pm and I can already see the moon.

I never feel the benefit from gaining an hour. Whether you’re in a damp car boot sale field at 6am or 7am, it’s still blooming early, and a bit of a sleepy blur. Not helped by the insomnia I’m struggling with. Falling asleep with no problem, but 2am-5am awake and churning over all kinds of nonsense.

Anyway, I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. What did you do with that extra hour? Keep it clean, it is Sunday after all! 😃😘

Shopping baskets at the ready!

This Saturday the pretty Georgian town of Howden, East Yorkshire will host the Rustic and Country Lifestyle Event. And for once, instead of selling, I’m buying. What a treat! Can’t wait. I don’t expect this basket will be big enough.😊

Do you have a room with a black mould problem? Grow ivy in the affected room and it will dramatically reduce and disappear over time.

I struggled with black mould in our bathroom. I would bleach the ceiling and walls to remove the mould, but gradually it would always reappear.

I was very sceptical about this tip,
but…Thanks Dolly, for the past couple of years I have grown a small pot of ivy in the bathroom and have overcome this problem completely! 😊

I’ve spoken before about how I rarely wear pattern and never wear florals.

The direct result of being made to wear this style of fabric as a child scarred me for life.

So I’m no great advocate of 70’s flower power.

Yet I have these fabrics listed (cheaply) in my Etsy shop. Old curtains, perfect for upcycling into something cool, funky, and never to be used by me 😂
