Team, crew, soldiers, artists, community. These are some of the people that made this happen, they put their wonderful spirit into this piece. Nuff laughter, ice lollies and serious tunes, all day everyday but their commitment to the project was the real foundation of The Togetherness Mural and food don’t forget the food (shout out to Kingston Spice & ).

This mural was made by a team of wonderful people coming together to paint art for Huddersfield, a special summer in many ways indeed.

Hands are ace! Eyes are brilliant! And they seem to love each other like the romantic oldskool marriages our grandparent had; knowing each other from an early age and uniting forever, knowing one day they will part leaving behind all that they have created together.
In doing so, eye try to stay present and appreciative of the blessings when creating/painting/drawing/designing because these moments are now and yesterday and here for you now, hopefully for another day.

Soon you’ll see more of my dope team that we’re key to this projects actualisation and a perfect representation of Togetherness, Respect, Community, Kindness and Caring. “It’s all we really need” init . - Happy New Year y’all.

Huddersfield is know for its 200 lions sculpted into and on many of the historic buildings around the town. People travel to Huddersfield to go on the ‘Lion Hunt’.

The main Lion everyone knows is above ‘Lion Chambers’ which welcomes you to the town as soon as you arrive at at the train station. The mural colour-ways and of these lions was used in a limited collection of soft enamel pin badges.

No lions were hurt during the process of this post/project.

The original design looked ‘nice’ but didn’t seem right, it was missing something, it was too ‘flat’. To give the whole design a feeling of movement I added literal moving waves and silhouettes of people doing the things we have all found a connection to this year (exercising, spending time with family, meditating, cycling...) This time consuming but necessary layer completely transformed the piece and my wonderful team sa-mashed it! This as you will see over the next few weeks is one section of a 300meter canvas. Sharing some early scenes from the ‘Togetherness Mural’ project in Huddersfield. Getting the background to flow nicely over the full span of the giant canvas was a chalky affair, in-fact I eventually had to switch it up to chunky graphite sticks from because the paint and chalk didn’t like each other!
