After a lot of careful thought and consideration I have decided that it is time for Hurstpierpoint Alterations to leave the High Street.

My last day will be December 3rd. All items need to be collected (or an alternative collection date needs to be arranged) by this date.

I am going to be working from home after the New Year. I will still be taking on some alterations but I will be unable to offer a fitting service. Items can be dropped off to a secure drop box at my home address and collected in the same way. You can still contact me on my mobile number/email/facebook/website.

This has been a very difficult decision to make.
Maria and I have been working together on the High street since 2017 but I feel that now is the right time for me to move on.
The lease is coming to an end and with rising costs it is becoming harder to make ends meet even with the amazing support of our customers. And as some of you know my personal circumstances have changed and I need to be available at home more.

So it is with sadness that we are leaving the High street but also with excitement of things to come.

Over the summer we have had some serious thinking to do regarding the future of the shop. This last year has been one of the toughest yet and we have faced a multitude of challenges from major water leaks and subsequent issues with Castle Water and Business stream to our energy providers extortionate prices. We really do feel that small businesses are being priced out of the High Street and therefore we need to reduce our costs.

As most of our valued customers know we run these businesses alongside our busy family lives, we do our absolute best to accommodate everyone but sometimes something has to give.

Maria’s business (Maria Fox Bridal Seamstress) will continue as normal but for the general alterations and repairs things are changing, I am working 70+ hours a week and I still can't make ends meet. So from now until Christmas I will be working mostly from home with only Wednesdays as my contact day in the shop. Then after Christmas I will predominately switch to doing Bridal party and occasion wear for both Men and Women which will be by appointment only. I originally trained to be a bridal seamstress so it seems a waste not to utilise that skill. I may take on other work but this will depend on my availability.

Would there be a demand for sewing classes in the village ? Beginners upwards ? Just a thought at the moment 🤔

It’s nearly time for the school holidays and our summer break 🎉

The shop will be closed from July 22nd until mid September. I will be working limited hours from home after August 5th I can be contacted via messenger or email [email protected] or text 07309575625.
All items must be collected from the shop by 3 pm Thursday July 18th unless another arrangement has been made.

From September the shop hours will be changing significantly due to family commitments these will be confirmed at the beginning of September.
