Finally finished this wonderful dress for a recent special occasion. It was made with a silk embroidered organza fabric (from ) and olive green cotton (from Elegance, Derby) underneath. Loved making this dress and so pleased that I didn't rip it on it's first outing.

The Hidden Costs of Fast Fashion

1. Poor quality that doesn’t last
Fast fashion pieces are often made with low-quality fabrics and stitching, meaning they wear out quickly and lose their shape after just a few washes.
2. Environmental impact
Cheap production often comes at the expense of the environment think massive water consumption, chemical dyes, and piles of clothing ending up in landfills.
3. Unethical labor practices
Many fast fashion brands rely on low-paid workers in unsafe conditions to keep prices down.
4. Overconsumption
Constantly changing trends encourage us to buy more than we need, leading to cluttered closets and wasted money.
5. Difficult to repair or alter
Low-quality materials and construction make it harder to give garments a second life through alterations.

A well worn jacket needed some TLC with some new cuffs, collar and waistband. There's quite a significant amount of fading from the original cuffs!! Now it's revitalised and ready for another few years wear!
