A little life and Hegri update 🖤

From next week, there’ll be a small change to my studio opening hours as I’m starting an exciting new role in museums.

It feels like a really lovely fit alongside Hegri and my love of craft, heritage and making, and I’m excited for this new chapter.

Sewing Club will continue as normal, and A0 pattern print orders can still be emailed over anytime, with collection from the studio on Saturdays.

I’ve also decided to step away from commissions, and leather workshops will now become very occasional special events rather than something I offer regularly.

This change will give me more focused time to develop Hegri, particularly the sewing patterns and creative work I’ve been wanting to move forward.

Hegri isn’t going anywhere. It’s just evolving a little, and I’m really excited about where it’s heading. 🖤

Today’s job… A0 sewing pattern print orders. ✔️

Everything is printed and I’m now packing orders ready for collection.

I love being able to offer this service for local sewists. It saves hours of taping together A4 sheets, so you can get straight to the fun part… sewing. 🖤

I’m really excited for our Open Studios event this weekend!

It’s such a treat to get a look inside all the different artists’ and makers’ studios, and there will be children’s activities too, so you can bring the family along.

You’ll also get the chance to see Hegri Studio’s mini makeover in person!

OPEN STUDIOS THIS WEEKEND! 🎨

Come along to Courtyard Artist Studios in Irvine Harbour this Saturday and Sunday, where 14 artists and makers will be opening their studio doors to the public.

Explore the studios, meet the people behind the work and discover painting, photography, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, leatherwork and more.

We’ll also have children’s activities, so bring the family and make a day of it. We’re right beside Irvine Beach, with a brilliant selection of cafés and restaurants on our doorstep.

Sunday studio day. 🖤

Working on two commissioned leather belts this afternoon. It’s been lovely to spend a few quiet hours making.

The new studio layout is already making such a difference. Everything feels calmer and the space is working really well.

Just a wee note to say I’m off for the next week spending time with my family.

Messages may be slower than usual as I’m taking a wee socials break and trying to be properly in the moment.

I’ve had some really lovely conversations recently about how much creativity gives us.

It helps us slow down. It builds confidence. It brings us joy.

Yet it’s often the first thing we stop making time for.

We’re busy looking after everyone else. Home. Work. Family. Life.

So we tell ourselves we’ll start when things are quieter. When we have more time. When everything feels a bit more… perfect.

But that day rarely comes.

This is your reminder to start before you feel ready.

Learn the skill.

Make the mistakes.

Keep going.

Be proud of what you’ve made.

For me, that’s sewing. It’s where I feel most me.

For you, it might be something completely different (but sewing is awesome so it’s probably sewing😂)

Whatever it is, I hope you make time for it. 🖤

🖤 I asked a few of the Hegri Sewing Club members if they’d mind chatting about why they come to Sewing Club, because I don’t think the name alone really captures what it’s like.

It wasn’t scripted. I simply asked them to talk about their own experience, and they were all absolute naturals.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better description of what Hegri Sewing Club is all about.

It’s about learning new skills, growing in confidence, making beautiful things, sharing ideas, encouraging one another, and being part of a creative community where everyone is welcome, no matter their experience.

I’m incredibly grateful to these wonderful women for sharing a little of their journey. I hope it gives you a glimpse into what Hegri Sewing Club really feels like. 🖤

🖤 I want to share some photos taken on Saturday of some of the Hegri Sewing Club ladies.

These women have created such beautiful garments over the past few months, but more than that, I’ve watched people grow in confidence, make friends, and surprise themselves with what they’re capable of.

I started Hegri Sewing Club because I believe creativity should feel welcoming, not intimidating.

And honestly… what a gorgeous, talented bunch they are. 🖤
