Before Rambling, there was my portrait studio.
A small space in Keighley, not far from where the new creative building now stands. While many photographers leaned toward clean white backdrops and commercial perfection, I went the opposite direction.
Black backdrop.
One key light.
A spotlight behind the subject.
I wanted depth.
Shadow.
Emotion.
Something cinematic. Something that felt more like fine art than photography.
Looking back now, I can see the foundations of Rambling Clo already forming long before the garments existed. The same atmosphere, the same storytelling, the same search for honesty and feeling over polished perfection.
Rambling didn’t begin with clothing.
It began with trying to create emotion through imagery, environment and mood.
Some things change medium, but never change meaning.
