Stocked up The National Wallace Monument 🤩

We've just finished a bright & cheery order of hats for the gift shop at The Wallace Monument in Stirling.

Including Heilan' Coo's, Thistles & Wonky hats, each hat has been individually created by our team of skiller makers in Kelso.

The Scottish Wool Mark 💙

We were recently invited to the depot in Selkirk, alongside , to launch the new Scottish Wool mark.

Since 1972, wool grown in Britain has been identified by the Shepherds Crook symbol, and now it's time to get even more specific and identify the Scottish sheep too.

As a small knitwear manufacturer, we work with crofters and farmers, turning their wool stock into beautiful, natural products. The Scottish wool logo can be used by affilliates to authenticate products, which helps to tell the story of the garment.

At the British Wool depot, farmers bring their wool to be graded and sorted into breed type and origin. Then it is spun into yarn, before arriving with us to be knitted. This keeps all stages of product development & manufacturing within the UK, helping to support the local economy.

Wool prices are at a 10 year high right now, which is great news for the farmers and the wool industry. As more people take an intetest in how their clothes are made, and decide to choose wool, we will continue to see this natural, sustainable resource thrive again 🙌🐑

Brown & sky blue wave design scarf, knitted with industry surplus Cashmere. Super soft & wraps around twice.

Cream & blue small tote bag, handmade using supersoft wool. A cute size, convenient for all your essentials.

Border Terrier Obsessed! 🐾

We have an embroidery machine! Now we can embroider & knit Ruaridh Dog onto everything! 😂🙌

The first product we have created with our new machine are these Border Terrier caps. The clay & navy caps are made from corduroy cotton, and the green & khaki are a cotton twill. Both have buckle fastenings on the back, so you can adjust the size easily.

Ruaridh Dog is our pioneer pattern with this machine. We converted our dog design from our knitted bobble hats, into tiny stitches for embroidery.

These caps are now online, so if you too are obsessed with your BT, you can rep your favourite dog on walkies all year round! 😍

Congratulations Stanley Travel 💙🚍

This family run business, based in Co.Durham, are celebrating 65 years of transporting people on holidays & tours via coach, bus & taxi 👏👏

To commemorate this wonderful achievement, they asked us to create a bespoke bobble hat & knit 65 for them. We developed a 6 colour design, based on their brand colours and logo, then added a custom woven label to finish the job 🧵🪡

Thank you very much for choosing our family business to create these lovely hats for yours. 65 years of being in business is truly inspirational!

Pompoms! 🤩

Giving thanks to the genius who invented the pompom machine! Before we had the pleasure of this machine joining our team 8 years ago, we made every pompom by hand. That was fine, it was fun, we even made it into a game with Team Wonky having pompom making races.

However, it was pure joy when I realised this machine existed. You can use up to 16 colours in each pompom, creating stripes, spots and blending beautiful colour combinations. As we make 1000's of pompoms a year, it has been a game changer in our micro-factory.

Small batch manufacturing, made more efficient with the right tools for the job 🙌

Torridon 💙

Drawing inspiration from the stunning landscape in the North West of Scotland, we have developed the Torridon collection.

The hat, available with or without a pompom, has a patterned turn up providing extra cosiness. The headband, featuring the mountain range, also doubles as a neck warmer. Plus, we have made a cute pompom keyring so you'll never lose your keys in your bag again! 🙌

Knitted with luxurious merino wool, each product has been made in our Scottish Borders workshop.

A spring thing 🐑

Our merino wool headband takes inspiration from nature. From the greens in the grass and trees, to the yellow of the daffodils, and the silver light shining off the river Tweed.

Merino wool is breathable and hypo allergenic, making it one of the softest wool's to wear. Pop it on under your hood for maximum cosiness. Or wear it around your ears when out running or walking.

Knitted by us in Kelso, and hand finished. Luxurious, soft merino wool in rich, natural hues 🌿

Why wool? 🐑

At Wonky HQ we are slowly creating a collection of products. As wool is warm, renewable & biodegradable, we want to use more of it and promote the benefits.

All of the products in this collection have been knitted with Sheepsoft from . This wool is sourced within 50 miles of their factory in West Yorkshire, where they have been spinning yarn since 1907.

From Yorkshire to the Scottish Borders, this wool has a very low carbon footprint and supports British farming & manufacturing.

We are developing more products to add to this collection, which will launch this year. From the knitting, finishing, washing & wearing, we consciously create each garment to ensure our knitwear brings you warmth & joy for years to come.
