55 years ago today American cinemas first screened W***y Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Here in the UK we had to wait until Aug 20th 1971 to watch it. The film adaptation of the Roald Dahl 1964 book wasn’t an immediate success but it grew to be one of our favourite movies of all time.
Wonka fact : Dahl was not a fan of the film & he didn’t want Gene Wilder to play Wonka, instead he believed Spike Milligan should have played the candy king!

In 1982 Tomy unleashed Kongman onto the toy shop shelves. Following on from the success of Screwball Scramble in 1979, dexterity, was needed in order to get the silver ball from the bottom to the top avoiding the pitfalls on route. The best part was getting near to the top then watching the silver ball magically make its own way up 😳 🤯

Today sees the release of the new Masters Of The Universe film.
Back in 1982 Mattel introduced us to 8 figures from the He Man Universe, 4 good guys, 3 bad guys & 1 neutral character, each one packaged with its own mini comic giving the character their own personal back story. The animated series on which the figures were based was launched in 1983.
Can the most powerful man in the universe defeat the lord of destruction in this latest film? We will endeavour to find out…
