Sew Helen Richardson

Sew Helen Richardson Helen makes bags by repurposing leather jackets, sofas, denim jeans etc. Every bag is unique. And because of this my bags and kimonos are totally unique.

I love to save as much as I can from landfill and repurpose it, if possible, into something new, useful and beautiful. One of a kind. If you have one, no one else in the world will have one quite like it. This upcycling is particularly rewarding to do with items that hold sentimental value - such as an item of clothing from a loved one. For example, the old leather jacket or pair of jeans, that Gr

andpa wore, can often be transformed into a beautiful new bag. Or that blouse you bought on honeymoon that you no longer wear can be used to line a bag. The possibilities are endless. But the end result is a unique new item with special memories. And the other win - less things end up in landfill.

Question .......should I have a set time I add stuff to the website? And possibly only set days - maybe Tuesdays and Thursdays? Would that be helpful? Or do you all like the bun fight - it adds to the excitement?

Of course on days I'm working on orders, there won't be website stuff to add ....but if there is new items, would you prefer a set time?

This beauty was in my hidden products on the website. Someone had said they would like it - but then I hadn't heard back yet.

I intended to leave it hidden for another 24 hours but accidentally made it 'visible' when adding the other new sling bags. It sold of course.

This is why I don't like reserving items for potential customers. I can be hanging on, waiting to see if they would like it, or if they have changed their mind. All along knowing someone else would snap it up.

Going forward, I'll pop everything on the website in a general free-for-all. I'll aim to do after 6.30pm, giving most folk time to get in from work.

Made this last week.... another from the order list 💪

Vintage, but damaged, Woody Woodpecker bedding into a fabulous 'conversation starter' shirt. Why choose to blend in, when you can wear fun clothes that make the world a happier place 🤩

Another order 💪
Made from a vintage curtain and scraps of sofa leather.
Unique as always

I'm focusing on clearing the order list this week as much as I can 💪💪💪.
The customer provided the sleeping bag for this jacket. Is Groovy Chick early 2000? I know my daughter has a lot of the stuff and she's 31.

Thank you for loving my stuff. I could, of course, think about employing folk but this is meant to be my fun retirement hobby so I don't want to expand it. Small is my choice.
I need to take time for other stuff and also to plan new makes.

Holiday mode is on. The hubby is on leave until 7 Sept so I'm also taking some R&R days too. I know I love sewing but I've been working lots of long 15 hour days and a little break is healthy.
I will probably sew during this time but I'll be pretty quiet on here.
See you on the other side
