Boring post, but the time has come… going forward there will be a 20p charge for carrier bags. This isn’t to make money as this only covers the cost of the bags (and actually only the small ones), and I spend quite a bit on carrier bags, and need to recover some of these costs. I actually I think I’m the only shop to not be charging for carrier bags! It also saves waste as a lot of the bags generally only get one use, I know they’re recycled and recyclable, but they are still generally single use, so if it makes people think twice about getting a bag then that helps reduce waste!
Small paper bags for jewellery/accessories will still be free though.
