What drives me in my work?

At its heart, it’s problem-solving and people.

Every garment has a story, but so does the person wearing it. That’s why I never look at an alteration in isolation. I look at the whole picture - the garment, the fit, the occasion and most importantly - the person.

What do I value most about my clients?

Trust.

People bring me wedding gowns, special occasion outfits, treasured pieces they’ve owned for years and sometimes garments that hold precious family memories. Being trusted with something so meaningful is a privilege I never take for granted.

And what keeps me passionate after all these years?

Human connection.

In a world of fast fashion and online shopping, I value the opportunity to slow down, listen, understand and create something truly personal. Every fitting, every conversation and every transformation is unique.

For me, it has never been just about clothing. It’s about helping people feel comfortable, confident and like themselves again.

That is what continues to inspire me every day.

Congratulations to this beautiful couple on your Wedding Day.

It was such a joy to witness the love, laughter and happiness that surrounded you both.

May your marriage be crafted with the same care as the finest handmade piece - built on trust, strengthened by patience and enriched by countless beautiful details along the way.

Wishing you a lifetime of love, adventure, good health and precious memories together.

Congratulations once again and thank you for allowing me to share in such a special day.

Confidence isn’t about trying to be better than anyone else.
It’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin and dressing in a way that reflects who you truly are.

What we wear speaks long before we do. Not because labels matter, but because presence matters. Intention matters. Authenticity matters.

When clothing fits beautifully and feels aligned with your personality, you carry yourself differently. You move differently. You feel more like yourself.

That’s why at Sew Sustainable Studio, the experience is never just about alterations. It’s about understanding the person wearing the garment. Through personal one-to-one consultations and fittings, I take time to get to know my clients, their style, their comfort, and how they want to feel.

Because clothing should never wear you.
It should express you.

Where did it all begin?

Looking back, it must have been written in the stars in one way or another. Creativity, craftsmanship and sewing have always been part of my story and very much part of my bloodline too.

Both of my great grandfathers were tailors in their own villages, creating, mending and repairing garments by hand long before fast fashion existed.

That passion later led me to study Costume Design and Garment Manufacturing at university, followed by years working at Selfridges in London with high-end clients and luxury garments.

But what truly makes Sew Sustainable Studio unique is that it’s never been about a shopfront. It’s about the person. The experience. The trust.

A calm, personal, one-to-one approach where craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail still matter.

Prom season always brings a little magic into the studio

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working on so many beautiful prom dresses - adjusting hems, perfecting fits, reshaping silhouettes, and adding those final touches that make all the difference.

Because prom isn’t just about the dress.
It’s about confidence, excitement, memories, and feeling truly special in your own skin.

Messages like this one mean the world to me:
“It was stunning at my prom and I really felt like a princess!”

And honestly… that is exactly why I love what I do.

It’s time to reintroduce myself!

Hi, I’m Giedre - the hands and soul behind Sew Sustainable Studio in Lanark.

Even though this video was filmed back in September 2025 with the very talented Kai from Kai FraserVisuals, due to personal reasons I’m only now happily sharing it, along with some behind-the-scenes moments that perhaps reflect even more of who I am.

The laughter, the candid moments, the slightly unscripted chaos… and the genuinely lovely atmosphere we had throughout the shoot.

Kai was incredibly patient, supportive, creative and easy to work with during four very fun hours in the studio and I honestly couldn’t recommend him highly enough to anyone looking for a videographer.

And Kai… I think it’s time we did it again. This time fully unscripted and completely winged 😉🤭🤣

A recent project involved alterations for a couple attending a wedding.

The dress - a beautiful moss green guipure lace design with velvet ribbon detailing, required the bodice to be shortened, sleeves adjusted and the entire structure carefully reconstructed.

The velvet ribbon had to be delicately detached, the bodice panels shortened, the back zip repositioned and everything reassembled with precision before the ribbon was sewn back into place.

The sleeves presented their own challenge.. Because of the intricate cutwork edge detailing, shortening from the shoulder wasn’t possible. Instead, the sleeves were shortened from the hem, carefully reshaping and recreating the original design so the finish looked completely untouched.

The gentleman’s waistcoat was also enlarged by inserting satin side panels for a more comfortable and balanced fit.

The end result for both garments?
Elegant, seamless alterations executed with care, precision and respect for the original design.

Et voilà! A closer look at the work behind this bridal transformation.

This gown required three key adjustments:
• the hem was shortened and the scalloped edge carefully removed and reattached
• the shoulders were lifted for a better fit
• excess fabric at the upper back was reduced by reshaping the lace panels

To achieve this, the appliqué, beading, and sequins had to be delicately lifted, the structure refined, and everything closed from within before reapplying each detail back into place as if untouched.

The result? A seamless finish, a perfect fit and a very happy bride.

And yes… I’m just as pleased with the outcome!

Quite a few of my clients are taking a final chance to enjoy some sunshine before Scotland turns a little more… dreich.

My lovely client Janice just came back from France, where she wore two jersey dresses I recently shortened for her. Jersey is such a great travel companion - light, airy, stylish, and with the bonus of not creasing easily. Perfect for concerts, strolls, and château visits alike.

Doesn’t she look magnifique?
