Time for a little relaxation.
Having a play with my alcohol inks. Random splashes of Tim Holtz inks onto a large white ceramic tiles. Adding isopropyl alcohol moves and blends the ink colours into each other, creating interesting patterns. After drying I have picked out the shapes I can see, using a thin black permanent marker creating this abstract picture of leaves, shells and fruit.

A Bonsai inspired woodturning.
This piece features a delicately handcrafted wooden box, shaped and turned and enamelled by me. The highlight of this creation is the stunning enamel design, depicting a traditional bonsai tree in silhouette in red and black. This was an experiment on a dark coloured chunk of wood salvaged from the firewood pile. After turning on my lathe into a pleasing shape, I worked bands of iridescent purple paint into the grain and polished to a shine. I think it's really attractive.

A selection of my craft projects.
The largest piece is a bowl turned from Ash. I decorated the base with Jo Sonja's metallic iridescent paints in purple, gold and green. The paints are exciting to use and always effective as a decoration method. The small Ash lidded box has a blue enamel insert recessed into the lid. I also enamelled in green and white, a Victorian styled pendant, hand torched on to a copper disc.

A beautiful blank of Beech on the lathe. I had ideas for the shape of the platter when I started, then I found my design evolved as I worked with the wood. After finishing with sanding and polishing I used Jo Sonja metallic paints to enhance this dramatic bowl. I'm really pleased with the finished piece.

Introducing the fascinating process behind creating the copper enamel inserts for my lathe turned wooden boxes! 🎨✨
I begin by turning and shaping the wooden boxes to a unique design, ensuring they are perfectly crafted for their intended purpose. Then creating a precise cut in the lid, designed to securely hold the copper disc.
After applying a base coat of enamel to the copper lid, providing a foundation for the decorative pattern that follows. I then use stencils to carefully create the intricate and eye-catching designs on the lid, each one adding its own unique character to the finished product. The hand-firing process begins, as the enamel goes through stages from a "sugary" texture to an "orange peel" appearance, ultimately transforming into a glossy surface that brings out the desired effect.
The end result is a stunning combination of craftsmanship and artistry, where the beauty of wood and the brilliance of copper enamel come together in perfect harmony.

Look at this, a beautiful lavender and white enamel earring and pendant set!
