My background is in Fashion and Education having taught Fashion Design, Garment Construction and Pattern Cutting at various colleges including, Harrogate and Leeds College of Art. I have a passion for design and experimentation of intricate Japanese pattern drafting, pattern cutting and making garments. I have now changed my name to plain old me, Alison Teece Uk. I’m now married but have kept my
name as Teece still, so as not to further confuse and decided not to change my surname over so it’s still the same! Learners from my classes know me as Alison Monroe (married name)
I want to showcase my earlier work after completing my BA Hons Fashion degree in 2017 on my page. I was given an unconditional offer to do my Masters of Art, at Huddersfield university in Creative Pattern Cutting, but finances, life and now even, Covid has left me deferring to eventually, dismissing. But, I can self teach and personally develop my skills without further study, as I’m very disciplined when it comes to developing my skills further. My design skills vary and are always unique, the most recent work was a "Homage to Punk" where I used typically reminiscent tartan fabrics, also incorporating the rising trend of “Up-cycling” where I have unpicked a faux leather 80’s style charity shop skirt, an old belt and re-fashioned and showcased a collection of 9 garments at a fashion show held at Leeds City Museum, West Yorkshire... Photos are on my page... scroll back and hope you like! One of my other proud moments, was to design, pattern draft, toile and make a red carpet outfit for the wonderfully intelligent and beautiful Jenny Ryan aka “The Vixen” from ITV’s quiz show The Chase, to wear for The National Television Awards. Jenny was a real pleasure to work with and I beamed with pride, watching her adorn my work wearing it beautifully on such a prestigious awards show! Again, keep scrolling back through my photos.....
You may also notice that a monumental influence on me and my works inspiration is both my love, respect and fascination of David Bowie with his endless pioneering influence on the fashion industry. Evident in particular with my "Spin Art" collection...
And.... my love for Vintage, in particular the 1950's silhouette of which I absolutely adore, again you will see from my work that this is a heavy influence...
There are quite a few of my garments that are for sale, so if you see anything, please don't hesitate to message and ask me :-)
I enjoy coming up with an idea, inspired by fabrics alone as the fabric tells the story; that can be practical, stylish and pretty, fun, quirky and even kitsch! I have fun making them and smile when doing so! Most of the designs are unique as are a lot of the fabrics sourced, but there are also some that can be replicated. Additionally, I have up-cycled old jeans and garments and re styled them into more beautiful items such as slouch or hobo bags, that have been personalised into unique, one off bags. Old dresses have had new leases of life with asymmetrically placed collars and trims, sometimes, less really is, more! when it comes to style! I will continually, be uploading a variety of styles and if you see anything you like, please don't hesitate to get in touch! Anything you see on my page over time, past present and future, contact me for further information. Thank you for liking my page and I hope you enjoy my designs, experiments and work...
And!... some of you may enjoy and benefit from watching my "Educating" and demonstration videos to support your learning too...
