Apparently, as a small business owner, I'm not supposed to show my products.
I'm supposed to talk about myself.
Tell stories.
Share my morning routine.
Film myself pointing at words floating around the screen.
(Don't worry, your baby's clothes are safe from my dancing skills. π€£)
So for months I've been trying everything.
Reels.
Carousels.
Talking videos.
Behind-the-scenes content.
Educational posts.
Basically, if a social media guru suggested it, I've probably tried it.
Recently, I ran an AI analysis on my Instagram account.
The result?
The AI couldn't work out whether I was a business, a creator, an educator, a personal brand, or an online shop.
To be fair, some days I can't work it out either π
And then it hit me...
I've spent so much time trying to learn how to grow on Instagram that I forgot to show what Cotton Baby is actually here for.
The products.
The cotton fabrics.
The tiny details.
The clothes I carefully choose because I genuinely believe there are better options than the synthetic fast-fashion clothing filling so many high street shops.
So today I'm breaking the rules.
Today I'm showing the products.
The photos aren't perfect.
The lighting isn't perfect.
Most are taken on my Samsung phone.
The photographer, stylist, content creator, customer service department and tea maker are all the same person... me βπ€£
And if I'm being honest, most of the likes on my posts come from close friends and family who have probably seen enough cotton baby clothes to last a lifetime.
But they still support me anyway, and for that I'll always be grateful π
Cotton Baby isn't a content creation business.
It's not an influencer account.
It's a small business with a mission.
So from now on, you'll be seeing a lot more of what I actually sell.
And I'd love to know...
When you follow a baby clothing brand, what do you want to see more of?
π The products
π The story behind the business
π Parenting tips and advice
π A mix of everything
Let me know in the comments. π
