Happy mothers day (for yesterday) to the best mum Maureen Grantham- this was taken a week before her 80th last year - last week she was learning to drive a geared car again! So proud of you mum! Love you

Some adjustments to make and plenty more to add, (was freezing having this taken!) but getting there, and I promised I'd post as far as I got by the end of the day! Can't wait for next weekend!

1 Tabs I've been stitching into the side of a dress for a costume
1 Buckles rescued from old, dry belts. Belt straps to be reused for dog armour
3 Canvas bags for foraging pouches - to be waterproofed
4 My axe - hacked a couple more tent pegs
5 Shoe cream - didn't work - but managed to start dying a waistcoat for a costume
6 Tripod - fiiiinally managed to invest in some equipment so I can do decent making videos (Follow Ravn Leather for news) and photos of products. Thanks Maureen Grantham 😘

Thank you vehicle in front!

Hopefully most won't go to waste... Never tanned a bird before, but was too good an opportunity not to try. Also got some bits in a 'canopic jar'. I'm hoping this will make a headdress to go with a mask, maybe, and the bits will maybe make some additions to a staff, wand, or... it'll be a while - plenty of time for the creative juices to flow!

Most of the rest was food, but very little wasted - what went onto the wall will have fed carrion. Threw the crop too soon though: the second it was out of my hand I realised it could've been tanned for a dice or coin bag. Next time...!

For anyone interested, there'll be a video coming up (not on here) showing prep stages, and eventually how the rest of it ended up. Leather isn't cruel - it's making sure as much of the animal as possible is respected and goes to good use. Nothing wasted if possible.

Dad was right - I couldn't work in a factory any more - my imagination runs away with me at the drop of a hat - away with the fairies... waving a leather wrapped holly wand, dressed in the bones of the tiny birds that used to nest in the bush 🤣🙈
