Lindsey, the company owner, studied Fashion Design and Manufacture at the University of Huddersfield. After graduating she went on to work for an independent British fashion brand, Kevan Jon. During her time working there she also gained experience in freelance work such as costume, styling and making bespoke creations. Violet Flamingo was created in 2011, focusing mainly on made to measure garmen

ts for individuals and offering a small selection of pieces which sold via social media. In July 2021 VF launched a brand new website, this is now our home to sell our high quality UK made clothing and accessories.

♻️ SUSTAINABLE SEWING WORKSHOPS | STARTING THIS WEEKEND! 🧵

If you’re not following or signed up to their newsletter, you might have missed that my fully funded Sustainable Sewing Workshops are starting this weekend! 💜

I’ve got a couple of spaces left for the first session on Saturday 15th August, so if you fancy coming along and learning how to alter, repair and upcycle your own clothing and homewares, now’s your chance!

✨ 10am–2:30pm
📍 Gallery FRANK, Ebor Studio, Littleborough
💜 FREE — fully funded
🧵 Sewing machines, tools & materials all provided
☕ Refreshments included but feel free to bring a packed lunch so we can have a 30 minute break and chat & eat together.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already handy with a sewing machine, come along, get creative and give something you already own a new lease of life.

Only 6 places are available per session, and you can book onto a maximum of two workshops so we can give as many people as possible the opportunity to take part.

Right then, I've got 4 more weeks in my cast and while I'm getting pretty good at doing everything one-handed, I'm fully booked.

The studio is bursting at the seams with a rail full of alterations, a batch of custom VF pieces and summer workshops to attend, so I'm calling it there for August.

If we've already got a fitting booked in, don't panic, you're all sorted! But unless we've already made plans, I'm not taking on any more fittings this month.

We loved having Jess with us for her work experience at Violet Flamingo the other week. 💜🦩

As her final project, Jess designed and created her very own top using a vintage tablecloth — giving a beautiful old fabric a completely new lease of life. 🧵✂️

She did such a fantastic job, and it was wonderful watching her ideas come to life throughout the week. From getting to grips with the sewing machine and learning new skills, to creating a garment from scratch, Jess threw herself into everything with so much enthusiasm.

She was an absolute pleasure to have in the studio, and I so impressed with what she created! ❤️

I'm teaming up with Soul Create Studios to deliver three creative workshops over the summer holidays!

Set in their gorgeous woodland studio at Healey Dell Nature Reserve, these sessions are all about sustainability, creativity and experimentation. Expect plenty of hands-on making, trying new techniques and creating something completely unique.

Well... turns out a broken wrist doesn't stop a good weekend 💜

We've been out for lovely walks, had breakfast in the garden, raided a farm shop, made homemade pizzas and even squeezed in a cinema trip. Throw in some proper restorative sleep and I'm feeling like a new woman.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without that boy of mine. Whilst I'm proving I can still sew, meet customers and keep the studio running, he's dealing with all the glamorous jobs......cutting up my food, washing my hair, absolute angel.

Right then... enough relaxing! We've got a busy week ahead, and with Paul Whiteley in my corner, we're going to smash it. First mission: finishing a bridal party of EIGHT!

DON'T PANIC!

Well... this weekend I managed to break my wrist. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Honestly, you couldn't make this stuff up!

This is my third broken bone in eight years. The previous two collectively took me out of work for around two and a half years... but this one won't. 💪

Everything is OK, and I'll still be working. If you're already in my queue, please don't worry. I worked hard to get ahead before my holiday, so everyone will still receive their pieces on time.

I may be working a little slower than usual while I get used to the cast, but the work will still be done, and I'll keep everyone updated today.

I'm just waiting to get my proper cast fitted once the swelling has gone down, and then it'll be a case of adapting and cracking on.

At this point, I think I've become a professional at working around broken bones! 😂

Thank you all for your patience, support and understanding—it really does mean the world.
