This weekend, we're doing something a little different.
On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August, Charmingo Sews Academy is opening its doors from 12pm to 7pm both days for a Dress a Girl Around the World sewing weekend. Together, we're making simple dresses and shorts for children living in poverty overseas.
This one's open to anyone who'd like to come, whether you've been to one of our classes before or you've never set foot in the studio. You don't need to be a Charmingo regular to be part of this, you just need a bit of basic sewing know how and a willingness to help.
No zips, no buttons, just simple seams, elastic and shirring. We'll be running demonstrations throughout the day, including on the overlocker, so if you've never used one before, this is your chance to learn.
Bring your own machine or use one of ours. All the fabric you need will be supplied, and if you have spare fabric at home you'd like to bring along and use, or donate for someone else to use, that's very welcome too.
Stay for as long as suits you, whether that's the full seven hours or just an hour.
Can't sew but still want to help? We need hands for cutting fabric too, so please get in touch regardless.
There'll be a donation box on the day. If you're able to give between £2 and £5, that goes directly towards posting the finished dresses to the children they're going to.
It's a lovely way to give back, learn something new, and meet some like minded people along the way. Come and be part of it.
