Custom name tag, made for Spencer's guitar strap a few weeks back.

Spencer and his girlfriend popped in to the workshop recently with a guitar strap she'd bought him as a special gift.

The final piece of the puzzle was a small patch to include a nickname and the year.

We normally won't work on items made elsewhere, but this one was fairly straight forward and turned out nicely.

A perfect little touch to commemorate a special occasion, every time you reach for your guitar.

Anyway, here's Wonderwall.

DAILY (ISH) UPDATE

I was reminded the other day, how, during Covid I used to write "daily (ish) updates" for our page providing an honest insight into the trials and tribulations of running a small Cheese shop during a world wide pandemic. I am minded to write another now because everything has changed so much, back then most of my ministrations concerned safe distances, patience in the Christmas queue or patience waiting for a free local delivery. The pandemic was definitely a challenge but it was good for business. Now we have to contend with a cost of living crisis, increased wage/PAYE bills, massive electricity bills, increased stationery costs, postage, fuel and on and on. It just keeps coming and then on top of that we have to contend with the heat...

Ours is always a tricky business to be honest, 1000s of people want to buy what we sell but just one week of the year, we need to persaude them to buy what we sell at other times too or we would be nothing more than a fond memory of that Cheese shop that used to be in Woolton village.

So as we approach that time of year when schools return and peoples thoughts turn to Christmas, please spare us a thought, don't wait until December for lovely cheese, have some now, or come to our Cheese School or organise your own private Cheese and wine tasting, have a look at our website and buy yourself a treat or send a little box of cheese to a loved one. Write us a review or recommend us to a friend, most of all please just keep buying things from little local businesses, we need you more than ever right now.

Little (/big) rant incoming.

As you can imagine, the website is rather important to an independent business selling only online.

No site, no sales.

Imagine the veritable buffet of four letter words I served up then, upon discovering the website was largely unreadable on certain devices. Certain people have been able to continue ordering, but plenty tell me they've hit a brick wall with each attempt.

At some point - not quite sure when - the background colour glitched from dark blue to white.

Not a big deal? It is when your text is also white. Therefore, product descriptions, names, and prices all completely invisible.

I'd take responsibility but I have screenshots after the last update showing everything working as intended. So at some stage Wix has very kindly thrown a wobbler and knocked things out of whack.

Not the first time. Probably won't be the last time. If you're open to suggestions, mine is to avoid Wix.

With that off my chest, apologies to those of you who received the ALBERT Back In Stock emails you requested, and then couldn't do anything with that information since the product page was a washout.

After four years of use, it was time for a change.

Mark sent his TRAFALGAR Belt back to the workshop for some tailoring. Following a bit of a waistline change, he wanted 3 extra holes punching for a new tighter fit, and the excess leather to be cut from the tip end.

Job done, back in the post, and now back in service for many more years.

Such a pleasure to see our items after a few years out in the big wide world, and to give them their next lease of life to continue being enjoyed.

I love Scotland, whatever the weather. But catching the last of the 28°C heat with blue skies was a right treat.

Swimming in the middle of nowhere, watching 80 Red Kites swoop for a feed, and a ridiculously good meal in my favourite pub on earth. Strong weekend.

You know you've done something right as a boss when your team buy you a leaving gift like this.

We worked on this VICTOR a few weeks back. Billy already has a couple of our pieces so thought a customised wallet would be a perfect parting gift for his boss.

He decided on Dark Tan leather, brown stitching, embossed initials on the front cover, and a laser etching of the company's logo on the rear.

As always absolutely knocked it out the park with the crisp laser etching.

Gloriously sunny down by the Mersey today, for a pleasant stroll to deliver some custom pieces to a local customer.

This absolute beauty is Alex's VICTOR Bifold, which today has celebrated its 9th birthday.

Unreal scenes. Seeing something I vividly remember working on all those years ago, looking so good after constant use is truly one of the biggest perks of the job.

I love sending out crisp new wallets, but seeing them after they've been around the block a few times is even better.

Thank you, Alex. We'll have to come up with something special to mark the big 10 next year.
