Holly and Beau turtle swim shorts, one very cold Canadian lake, and a boy who has never once eased his way into anything. He surfaced, announced it was freezing, and went straight back up for another go.

Girls summer skirts. Three pieces, one rule: the kid decides. The Ditsy Floral tutu, soft-lined tulle. The Blush Pink Boho gold glitter tutu. And the Cherry Cute Skort with built-in shorts for cartwheels. Most girly pieces are either too precious to play in or too plain to feel special. These are neither. Approved by a panel of very opinionated small people.

A tutu is not a costume.

Somewhere along the way we decided certain clothes are for occasions. The tulle skirt lives in the dressing-up box, brought out for a birthday, worn once, folded away. Too precious for a Tuesday.

We think that is a waste of a perfectly good skirt. The Sweet Wink tutus are lined, soft, and built to be worn to the park, to the shops, to nothing in particular. Glitter that stays where it is put. Tulle that is not scratchy. The kind of pretty that survives a climbing frame.

Special occasions are rare. Ordinary days are not. Dress for the ones you actually have.

Because fitting in was never the goal.

The family holiday, in one Edit.
