Having never worked on a sari before, this top had uneven sleeves, was too baggy and needed taking in. Que unpicking mirrored decorations, bias binding on the insides and moving the zip I had it fitting perfectly. Always looking for something different to work on, looking forward to the next dress!

In the Royal box at Royal Ascot. Trousers and waistcoat altered and tailored to construct a complete co ordinated outfit!
It’s easily the oldest garment I’ve altered. The waistcoat was at least 100 years old so some care was taken to put the new shoulder panels in. It was much better than what was there!!!

If you can’t find what you want, you get someone like me to make it! Noelleen, my client picked this pattern and the fabric from the lovely people at Ray Stitch who also designed this fabric!
Such a beautiful fabric to sew with and had a lovely drape with the dress we made.
I did a toile to start with and it always allows me to get a perfect fit!

Every now and then I dabble in the theatre. I was the one man team of laundry, alterations, dresser and repairs on these costumes. It was a great job, so naturally looking for more opportunities!

Thanks to :

For taking me on and trusting me with the costumes. I know everyone had a great time!

Honestly people, I feel like I’ve made this dress from scratch. I literally pulled it apart and put it back together with a corset, boning, French seams, waist stays… the works!

Just goes to show, there is nothing that can’t be fixed or improved.

Patience, fittings and a little help from my friends and this is what I came up with.

Thanks so much:

Have a great day Iona!

There is always hemming, mending and the usual, but what I’m looking for is something interesting to work on. When a client came to me and said ‘mohair coat from the 1960’s’ she had my full attention.

The request was to take it in 2 sizes and then adjust the armholes and bring the shoulders in. No problem. Lining, padding and everything. Practise always makes perfect and another thing ticked off my bingo card.

As always thanks to for the haberdashery. Always helpful!

Book Week is usually quite a creative week in our house. Usually I can cobble something together from my stash but this time something very particular was requested.

With 2 days in hand, I managed to make this from the ‘Secret Garden’ and voila, Mary Lennox.
