Last few from the massive Prague Castle compound. So. Many. People. Def would recommend not going on Easter weekend but was amazing to see the stained glass inside the church and the little houses on golden row.

Do you visit churches when you’re abroad? I love to always turn around to see the organ pipes

You’ll always find us with the books or on an observatory deck 📚

We had 24 hours in Prague my request was the clementinum astronomical tower and library, you’re not even allowed to touch the books!! But it’s pretty and pretty cool because Einstein use to lecture here & Mozart use to play here too.

Do you visit libraries when you travel?

“Who are we to fight the alchemy” little dude was excited to check out the Museum of Alchemy when we were in Prague. Who doesn’t love elixirs made in secret underground workspaces behind hidden bookcases 🧪

It’s a fun little tour, I would suggest checking the weather before going, if it rains you can’t go all the way down because it floods with water coming up from underground 👀

Some info from their website:
Alchemists produced elixir of eternal youth, Philosopher’s Stone and non-precious metals changed into gold here.

First written references about the stone area at the current location of the museum dates back to year 900 AD which means that this house is probably the second oldest building in Prague.

The house in Haštalská street No. 1 is located near the most important European trade route Grand Via, which was thousands of kilometres long and it ran from the north of Spain, across whole Europe to the Far East. Merchants probably used to come to this house and they always brought exotic goods and information with them.

According to written reference there was a herbal pharmacy in the 15th century, in which alchemists sell their potions and elixirs. In the 16th century, the house became a place where the Emperor Rudolf II. established his alchemical laboratory and he invited many famous alchemists to work here.

There were discovered alchemical workshops under the building and also underground tunnels that connected the three most important places in the city - Prague Castle, the Old Town Hall and Barracks.

Over the centuries the house has undergone several changes and reconstructions. It belongs to one of the few preserved during the redevelopment of the Jewish Quarter, which took place in Prague at the end of the 19th century. This incident is covered with mystery because no one ever reliably explained why this building was removed from the reconstruction plan.

A lot of legends are tied to this house. The most famous one tells of a goat’s flaming chariot that used to emerge in front of this house.

We had two days in Prague as an extra stop that the Mister planned so I didn’t really look for anything other than a lunch spot, some alchemy, and a library. You know, priorities. So here’s the coolest place you can take your kids for lunch and have a beer at 11:45am being delivered by train.

Výtopna Railway Restaurant 🚂🍔🍺

We could had stayed here all day, kiddos and adults majorly entertained and we were at a junction so we could hear the tracks change over and watch th trains go express 😆 and the food was great!

[ad] We were invited to check out the new Jolly Postman exhibit at this weekend to kick off half term 📮

Little due was super excited to see the exhibit being that he’s obsessed with the Christmas book edition. It was great fun for all ages with dress up play, touch screen interactive postal routes, magnetic puzzles, and a chance to read all the different books! For the older kids and adults it’s fabulous to be able to see original artwork and see the six years it took Janet and Allan Ahlberg to create the story and illustrate the drawings.

The exhibit is on for the next year so plenty of time to check it out. And don’t forget to check out the rest of the museum, two separate buildings! And if you pay a bit extra you can take the mail train than goes though the tunnels and shows how mail was transported “back in the olden days, which is the coolest” as little dude says.

And don’t forget to pick up and post card and stamp to mail out to your mate’s to be hand canceled from the Postal Museum 💌
