This Refugee Week, we’ve partnered with Foundation on a limited-edition ‘jumper for goalposts’ sweatshirt to raise money for their invaluable work with refugee and asylum-seeking young people across London.

“‘Jumpers for goalposts’ is how we like to picture football at its simplest. A ball, a bit of space, some mates and a couple of jumpers are all you need to get going. It’s easy to assume football is accessible for everyone. But that’s a common misconception. For many young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, the barriers are very real.” Charlie Hyman CEO & Founder of Bloomsbury Football Foundation

Available to pre-order now. All profits from sales will support Bloomsbury Football Foundation’s work with refugee and asylum-seeking young people across London.

Important, of course, for everyone to have a shirt precision-engineered for a rooftop bar in the summer, somewhere in Notting Hill, drinking sbagliato and staring down at the city from on-high like a little prince, curl cream in your hair, your rosy T-zone — mwah — just kissed by the sun. The only question is: How many buttons dare you undo? One is fine, normal, demure. Two: cheeky, mischievous. Three? You can’t do three. Can you? God. It might be time for three, you know. It might be the summer of three.

A drill top somehow redolent of both pre-season doggies in 1995 and throwing one over a T-shirt to protect against a cool Adriatic wind on a contemporary, early morning jaunt along the rocky shores of Puglia. From there, the world’s your complimentary shot of limoncello: allowing you to ponder life’s big questions. Hypotheticals like, say, if they were to hit you and hurt you — doesn’t matter who they are, right now — and it was defend and attack — what would be your plan to beat them? You know, besides getting ‘round the back?

A collection not for dodging pints thrown with staged abandon in brand-name warehouses and big screens, but for Palermo with mates, for mouth-melting amêijoas à bulhão pato in Lisbon, for long, aimless afternoons in Greece that starts with an ellinikos coffee — served variglykós, because you’ve got a sweet tooth and you’re on your holidays and why not? — and ends looking out at the Adriatic wondering why you can’t get the highlights loading on your phone even after you stumped-up YouTube Premium.

Whenever a big tournament rolls around, brands will slap a crest on something and call it a statement. They’ll announce: “We’re football fans now”. Course you are, lads. Of course you are.

Naturally, we’re doing the opposite. We wanted to do something more grown-up. Less shouty. Less obvious, perhaps. Football’s such a part of our DNA that even when we dial it all the way back, it’s still there. Like Newcastle United and brown ale, even if it’s not front and centre, you know it’s in the building.

To mark Arsenal’s first league title in 22 years, writer Rudi Minto de Wijs and photographer Gift Jr Gwambe, friends, collaborators and lifelong Arsenal supporters, documented a city united by football.

Families spanning generations. Strangers becoming friends. Legs dangling from bus shelters. Hundreds of thousands of people connected by a shared sense of joy.

Words by Rudi Minto de Wijs.

You are either a) a goalkeeper forced to question their life choices as you attempt to save a shot while getting blinded by the rays of a massive sphere of molten plasma, heated to incandescence by the nuclear fusion exploding in its core, or b) off to MagCulture to buy the latest issue of Popeye, and your hair isn’t going quite right but you still want to impress Jeremy, the shop’s notoriously discerning owner. What’s it gonna be?
