Needing a kilt for a wedding and finding no affordable options would be merely annoying for most people; for John, it spoke of a gap in the market. Starting with Royal Stewart kilts, pretty soon other tartans, sporrans and belts were added. In the beginning Tartanista’s stock was stored in the attic of John’s home, packed at the kitchen table and carried up to the local sub-post office in a sack,
annoying the locals unfortunate enough to be in the queue behind him. By 2007, the attic and table were being outgrown, and the ire of the post office queue was starting to get ominous, so premises were found in Finchley London, and a postal collection set up. Fast forward two years and the warehouse space was bursting at the seams, staff numbers were increasing and getting more stock squeezed onto the shelves was proving problematic. So once again, Tartanista was on the move. At present, and hopefully for a long time to come, we are located just off the North Circular Road London, which is great for both deliveries of new stock and Royal Mail and courier services. We are constantly looking for new Scottish items to add to our roster, so if you have any ideas, please send an email. We strive to give good service and products, so as the old saying (that we just made up) goes ‘If you are happy with us tell all your friends, but if you are unhappy, tell us so we can put it right’.
