cut to suit line up! (edited)

this is my edited line up for the project cut to suit. i thought that this concept was well suited to a mix of both menswear and womenswear, so decided to include both with my designs and line up. the shape and silhouette of my designs was inspired by medieval, renaissance and tudor garments; certain details were inspired by military-wear, including armour and battle garments, like chainmail and quilted gambesons, whilst other details were influenced by antony price’s designs and royal military garments.

cut to suit colour and fabric. (edited)

here is my edited colour and fabric board for the cut to suit tailoring project. i took colour inspiration from renaissance paintings, and my choice of fabrics was influenced by renaissance, tudor and medieval garments, including textiles such as chainmail and quilting.

cut to suit inspiration! (edited)

originally, my portfolio for this project, titled cut to suit, was quite different, but i decided to go back and edit my work since i really loved the concept i came up with, just not so much the end result. this project was focused on tailoring, and for my concept i decided to hone in on renaissance and tudor garments, as well as looking to military garments for details, tracing back through the military history within my family. we were also asked to select a 'creative mentor' to whom we looked for overall design aesthetic and inspiration. i chose antony price as my creative mentor, as i thought that the theatricality of his designs would be a nice contrast to the regimented historical aspects of my concept, whilst also tying in with and complementing the exaggerated nature of renaissance and tudor clothing. after editing and refining my work, i am a lot happier with the results and feel that it encapsulates my concept idea a lot clearer.
