Custom bird of paradise showgirl style special design for made with vintage fleur de lys silk brocade, guipure zig zag lace, fringing and feathers all from my stores of haberdashery 💜🩷it was so fun working on this we were to and fro with different pictures and ideas before I made the final pieces, I began with the green silk and lace and we added more and more, I loved her idea for the petals added to the cup and the purple ribbons 🎀

Extra short Empire line dress we made in 2004 inspired by Napoleonic fashions and punk babydoll styles. I like punk female dressing up because of all the subversion. Women's dress has always been a main realm of power to make points and they do it to every finesse.

A big film of Vanity fair came out that year with great costumes. I am intrigued by the literary character of Becky Sharp who is stealthy and nefarious. Fashion is one of her major weapons of subterfuge but it doesn't add up to big joy for her in the end even though she gets to be a winner. She kind of reminds me of Anna Delvey. Stuff never changes

I thought it would be cool to make a really short napoleonic dress and I had this deadstock liberty cotton lawn so it could make more short dresses than long ones from the piece✂️I worked with my brilliant pattern cutter friend who spent ages inventing the absolutely perfect mini cap sleeve. We got a load of these made in an old umbrella factory in a gigantic leaky old shed at the end of someone's back garden in Walthamstow village where they made all the agent provocateur uniforms too and then we sold them all in Soho. I'm glad I kept one to look at.

Shame there will only be enough of the glorious superpink deadstock for a couple of sets but they are sooo so shiny and exciting

I love wild swimming

The news this weekend said they are designating 6 new river bathing spots in the UK but that you can't swim in them because of sewage pollution!! 🤢😡only 2 of all the official inland bathing spots in the UK are OK to swim at.
I just watched Dirty business on Channel 4. It tells how the water companies have siphoned off all the money they got paid by us and didn't fix stuff and are dumping waste straight in the river.

It is a total outrage and is happening right now. Pass it on. 😬😬😬
