What happens when you don’t have a ready made sole unit to attach to your upper? You make one ☝️

By combining EVA foam with Vibram rubber sheet and wrapping the midsole with a long strip of veg tan leather, we can build our own sole unit from scratch 🥳🥳

Trust the Process, I promise you this Is worth it 🤌🏻

Once the uppers are fully stitched, it’s time for lasting. Using both wide and narrow lasting pliers, we gradually create pleats and pull the leather tightly around the shoe last, allowing it to mould into its final shape. It’s one of the most satisfying parts of the entire shoemaking process once you get the hang of it 🫡

Welcome to Day 1 of our SKL CRFT Shoemaking Course.

Before we begin, you’ll have already designed your colourway using our design tool, and all of your leather panels will be pre-cut and ready to go. Today is all about gluing and stitching your upper together. By the end of Day 1, your uppers should be fully stitched and ready for lasting on Day 2.
