When I was in Madrid, our hotel was located next to the prettiest old-fashioned pharmacy with a variety of products largely unknown to me.

Sure, they had Nuxe and Caudalie (and I love both of those brands, especially when I can pay for them in euros), but I was determined to only try new Spanish products.

The pharmacist couldn’t be more helpful and showed me around her store, pointing out products that are widely used by Spanish women. Without further ado, here is what she recommended.

Madrid, it turns out, is one of the great underrated shopping cities of Europe.

The designs are colorful and fun, the prices are affordable, and you can find some excellent Spanish designer threads that will stand out among the sea of high street brands.

I came home with some new espadrilles and a stripe obsession I’m leaning into this summer. Here’s what I found.

An epic girls’ weekend at Château de Gère on the books!

Trish was a gracious host and showed us what life in this part of southwestern France is truly like, cow traffic jams and all. I’ve never been to this region, but I will definitely be back.

It had everything I was looking for in terms of a good mix of activities, relaxing, and unbelievable mountain views. The fresh air alone is worth the price of airplane tickets!

Style report coming in hot from Madrid. And yes, it’s hot here.

Striped trousers are everywhere (both pull on and regular) and also new to me “balloon pants” silhouette that are loose on the top and tie on the bottom.

Everyone is wearing wedge espadrilles with said striped pants or cotton midi skirts. Bonus points if the midi skirt is striped. I’ve also seen a lot of matching sets with a vest type sleeveless top and linen pants with a scarfed tied as a triangle across the waist.

I’ve influenced myself to try a pair of balloon pants in a fun red floral print (styled with a denim shirt in the store) and also picked up 2 pairs of fun striped ones, a brown stripe and a navy/brown combo. I live for this kind of field research! 🌞
