Crown to Couture Exhibition 👑

Held at Kensington Palace this exhibition explores the similarities and connections between Royal Court during the Georgian period and Modern Couture fashion within todays celebrities.

Part 1: Couture 👗

Here are some of my absolute favourite couture pieces from the exhibition. I love seeing and noting the connections between the design features. Also how fashions from over 200 years ago still have influence today.

This dress from Blake Lively 2022 Met Gala was my favourite on the night and amazed that I got to see it in person. Inspired by NYC with influences from the Empire State Building, Grand Central station and Statue of Liberty. Just think it is stunning. And there were many more.. !

Crown to Couture Exhibition

Held at Kensington Palace this exhibition explores the similarities and connections between Royal Court during the Georgian period and Modern Couture fashion within todays celebrities.

Part 1: Royal Court 👑

Here are some images of my favourites from the historical garments. Including the details of the oldest court dress to exist dating back to 1660s. Also the widest surviving Mantua (yellow dress) measuring at nearly 3 metres wide.

I would highly recommend this exhibition as you also get to enjoy the splendid insides of Kensington palace. Well worth the visit.

One of my favourite things to do working in costume, is going out buying & sourcing! 🛍 for this current show ‘The Washing Line’ we currently searching vintage stores for clothing suitable for the 1978 time period but also for the setting of a hot jungle as it is based in the Jungle in Guyana! As always gotta finish with a lovely cup of tea and a book break! ☕️📖
