A wedding outfit has to do 3 jobs:
1. Look smart enough for the ceremony
2. Feel comfortable for the next 12 hours
3. Still make you feel like yourself
Most traditional suits only manage the first one.
My honest opinion is that too many men spend weddings feeling slightly uncomfortable and slightly overdressed in something they’ll never wear again.
Too stiff.
Too shiny.
Too much like the suit they wore to their first job interview.
And that’s a shame, because getting ready for a wedding should feel good.
The quiet nerves before you leave.
Sorting each other’s ties.
The first drink with your mates.
That rare moment when everyone has made an effort and, for once, nobody is wearing a quarter-zip.
This is exactly where Batch works.
Smart enough to respect the occasion, but relaxed enough that you don’t spend the day feeling like you’re dressed as someone else.
Wear it with a shirt and tie for the ceremony.
Lose the tie when the drinks start.
Wear the jacket with jeans next weekend.
A good wedding suit shouldn’t only work for 1 day and 100 photographs.
It should become something you reach for long after the speeches have finished and the group chat has gone quiet.
Looking good matters.
But feeling comfortable, confident and completely yourself matters more.
