📖 Book recommendation ✨ ‘Rooster Wore Skinny Jeans’ by Jessie Miller & Barbara Bakos

I saw reading this on Book at bedtime show and instantly searched for it online.

Our baba is only 9 weeks old so watching CBeebies is totally for my frazzled brain - adult tv is too fast paced!

I loved the positive self affirming message behind the story. The rooster saw a snazzy pair of skinny jeans, bought them online, the other farmyard animals were rude about him in them, but he decides sod them, they make me feel fab! In doing so the other animals think twice about their negativity.

It’s a rhyming book and not overly long with lovely illustrations. Win win!

"Impressions do not merely enter [their] mind; they form it” another Montessori quote that inspired me to train in the philosophy a decade ago. I’m one of those practitioners that thinks no one education system has all the answers, but we can learn by exploring, reflecting and testing things out in our own classrooms and our family lives. To see what works for our children. Education shouldn’t be one size fits all.

That’s why I love the fact there’s multiple teachers in an early years environment, especially when you’re able to offer free flow throughout the day between your spaces. This is where I’ve witnessed the most magical ah-ha moments seem to be made possible. As the children are free to follow their instincts and the adults can guide learning opportunities that focus on the child’s strengths and active interest!

If I miss anything about teaching right now. It’s that organic ebb and flow of the day.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyful pride month! Here’s also a call to join those demanding and fighting for equality and understanding for all in the LGBTQ+ community. Supporting everyone’s freedom of expression and recognition to be their true selves without fear, without judgment. As is everyone’s human right. Especially with some of the atrocities happening lately against members of the LGBTQ+ community.
I’ve been broadening my understanding of what this means lately. is a great person to follow as she shares concepts of anti-bias parenting and teaching, with such eloquence. If you’re not already aware of her do go check her out. I really learnt a lot watching a recent chat she had with (it’s still on her IG channel)
