For his wedding to food writer and Belmond global editor Bre Graham, Will wore an original early-1980s Yves Saint Laurent tuxedo he found on Vinted. A brilliant vintage find, but its proportions weren’t quite right, so he brought it to us. Our tailors narrowed the shoulders, reshaped the chest and waist, lengthened the sleeves and softened the original boxy cut. The trousers were narrowed slightly, with the waist reduced and the seat carefully shaped for a better fit. It’s the kind of alteration work we offer on pieces bought elsewhere, whether vintage, designer or contemporary. The trick with vintage tailoring is knowing what to change and what to leave alone. Despite the extensive alterations, the tuxedo still looks unmistakably YSL; it simply looks like it was made for Will.
The wedding, and the story behind the suit, were covered by Vogue. Read the full piece here: https://bit.ly/4iHu963
