UNSUNG HEROES #3 — Manuel Lanzini

The jewel.
A player that made football look effortless. ✨

Manuel Lanzini wasn’t just a silky playmaker — he was a big game player. The type to step up when West Ham needed magic most.

Spurs fans still hear about that goal.
West Ham were 3-0 down earlier in the match, before launching one of the craziest comebacks the Premier League has seen. Then in the 94th minute, with it at 3-2, Lanzini hit an absolute rocket into the top corner to complete the comeback.

One moment that cemented his place in West Ham folklore forever. ⚒️

But it wasn’t only Tottenham. Lanzini had a habit of turning up against the biggest sides — technical brilliance, close control, vision, and clutch goals that earned him the nickname “The Jewel.” 💎

Then came the cruelest moment of all.
Just before the 2018 World Cup, with Argentina counting on him, a horrific knee injury in training ended his dream before the tournament even began.

A player at the peak of his powers suddenly forced to watch from the sidelines as Argentina’s World Cup hopes faded without him.

He came back.
Maybe never quite the same physically, but always capable of moments that reminded everyone exactly why West Ham fans adored him.

Some players win trophies.

West Ham 2005/06 away FA cup final edition ⚒️

A shirt I’ve genuinely chased since I was a kid. West Ham away final edition with Bobby Zamora 25 on the back — gold print, official FA Cup sleeve patches, and the “FA Cup Finalists Cardiff 2006” embroidery that makes this one stand out from the standard release.

That team… Nigel Reo-Coker leading them out, Dean Ashton bullying defenders, Zamora putting in the work up top — proper era. And the game itself… 3–2 up, minutes away… then Steven Gerrard does that. One of the most iconic finals ever, even if it still hurts.

This isn’t just a shirt, it’s a full memory — the patches, the gold detail, the nameset… everything about it screams that day.
