Four drawings by my father Quentin Bell. The first three are very typical of him - probably designs for plates and all referencing classical mythology. The last shows two images of me, aged about 5 I guess. It is identifiable because I am sucking my thumb - a habit I was much teased about 😔

This was strange. I just opened Tom Wolfe's Bonfire of the Vanities thinking I would read it. Tucked into p17 (Chapter 1, after the introduction) I found this faded Polaroid of me. I guess that's as far as I got aged 24 when this was taken. It was a publicity shot for my final show at the RCA, with me draped in and in front of my textiles. I had a broken left arm at the time - just visible. No wonder I look so glum! Happy memories though.

A birthday card/thankyou card for my 30th birthday made by my dear friend Gilliane Cowie who was at the Royal College of Art with me. The party was held at Charleston and had a Country & Western theme. There were some pretty spectacular costumes- this is my effort in red velvet & gold fringing.
