We are pleased to share that The Metropolitan Museum of Art has acquired a second look from our archive: The ‘Care Label’ outfit from SS20 and can be viewed on their collections website.

This piece represents our early intentions towards transitioning to an alternative sustainable design practice. Made using long reams of unused care labels which state, ‘100% Polyester’ or ‘Dry Clean Only,’ types of clothing or care instructions that we no longer wished to issue from that point forward.

During SS20 we started to think more carefully about the end of life of our garments and work towards a ‘mono-material’ approach as this allows for better end of life biodegradability or recycling potential. This is now something we have built across the business and the collections as a whole, and has taken many years from the specific turning point featured in this look. It was included in the collection as a statement of intent, looking towards this future way of working.

This Care Label look will now join our Sunray Dress at the Costume Institute, which was acquired in Spring 2024 and displayed in The Met’s exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

We are so touched that this piece will remain forever safe in the esteemed archives of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s Collection. We share our heartfelt thanks to Andrew Bolton and his team.

This is our monthly plant series, where we share a focus on the plants which feature in our most recent collection LOST TOUCH.

Each month or look includes a rendition of a plant that is in its full flush of growth during that month.

For July it’s Fern.

Our Fern is loosely based on the “Polypodiales” variety which derives from the Greek words polys (many) and pous (foot), referencing its numerous fronds which are similar to the feet of a centipede.

There are over 10 thousand known fern species in the world. ‘Polypodiales’ which are found growing widely throughout the world from tropical to temperate areas, have been growing since the Early Cretaceous period.

These sturdy yet feathery delicate stems round up towards glimpses of sunlight and have no seeds or flowers, reproducing from spores from underneath their horn shaped throngs. They create elegant, controlled, architectural lines in amongst shady and damp areas where other foliage often doesn’t grow and create beautiful shades of greens.

By providing shelter, shade, erosion protection, chemical sequestration and microhabitats, Ferns are incredibly important to biodiversity.

We have trapped our long fragile organza renditions in between two layers of silk tulle. Curling and delicately wrapping themselves through our Cloud Jacket and Trousers and emerging gently out from between the seams to break up the curving lines of these pieces.

LOST TOUCH

Our latest annual collection revealed at

The horizon gets deeper
It used to concave to the distance
But of recent, it convexes

I used to stare up at the sky
My chin tipped up, pointing arrow,
To fill my face with open air
To fill my spirit with a permanence

Now I stare downwards
Looking beneath
In hope
For hope
For a welcoming
Of predictable routine

Waiting and expecting
For the transference of a sustenance
