01/10/22 Congratulations to the loveliest couple Mike and Laura! I was just looking back at these gorgeous photos from their big day, and realised I'd never posted any, better late than never! I love Laura's 60's style so much, we had loads of fun deciding what head wear would work, I'm so glad she went with orange pompoms! 🧡🧡🧡

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Royal Family at this sad time. We join in mourning a truly remarkable and inspirational woman who lived through so much and always had wise and calm words to share with the nation.

Our work has always been linked to the Royals, and we will be forever grateful for the Queen's support to the hat industry, for her style and poise.

Congratulations to on her recent QEST Henkel Apprenticeship!

The apprenticeship will support Filipa with a two year programme of training at John Boyd Hats. Filipa has been working with us for a year already, and I knew straight away that she had exceptional millinery skills. I am so excited to see how she develops as a designer maker and really happy to welcome her properly to our little team! Scroll to see some of Filipa's own brilliant work.

Filipa gained a BA in Art from Universidade do Porto, Portugal and her fine arts background is a prominent influence on her work as a milliner. She searches for a purified form of beauty, simplicity and harmony in her work, while using classic millinery materials. She has experience working for a number of renowned milliners including .h.lake and . Filipa hopes to become part of the new generation of milliners that use traditional British millinery techniques in their work, in an innovative and contemporary way.

So excited to be giving a demo for upcoming !!

'Beyond the Veil' will be held at Morley College on Aug 4 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm⁠ and my recorded version will be broadcast online on the morning of Aug 5th @ 9.30-11am

I will be sharing some of the secrets of how to create three of the John Boyd signature veil styles:⁠
⁠
– a gathered vintage style suitable for a cocktail hat;⁠
– a neat flip-back cage veil for pillbox; and⁠
– a dramatic cloud veil with adornments⁠
⁠

Thanks so much to for her beautifully written piece, it was a pleasure to meet you to discuss everything from the history of the label, to sustainable fashion and hat wearing. Moving the business during a pandemic was a big leap of faith, but I'm so happy I found the perfect new spot on New Quebec Street.Thanks also to for the photos which I love! I am not someone who is very relaxed in front of the camera so it's really nice to have some photos of me in my natural environment in the workroom.
