Other things I have been getting into making recently. Lampshades! I love the way the process is so similar to blocking a hat. This lampshade shape was a tired old polyester mess when I first came across it so I stripped it down and recovered the frame with some gorgeous vintage Ramm fabric and added the gold silk fringe. The glow from the fabric is especially lovely once the lamp is turned on. More of this to come in the near future!

When we were getting married this summer, I really wanted to make sure that we had a beautiful memento to help us remember the day. So I did what I do best, I got out my sewing machine and got stitching. I made this banner in secret and showed it to Leon the night before the wedding as a symbolic gesture that although I may not be changing my name to his, I am most definitely his Missus and him my Mister! It now hangs in our living room and I love looking at it and watching the wind swish the fringe when the front door is opened. I hugely enjoyed making this and have plans to make more of different kinds so watch this space 👀

My dear dear friend Judy looking FAB-U-LOUS in the latex pillbox hat with flower and veil. I have known Judy since I was about 12 and she is one of my favourite human beings on this earth. She lights up every room that she walks into and time spent with her is always memorable and special. She flew over from Dublin for my wedding back in August and was my fairy godmother for the day; doing my beautiful make-up, arranging taxis, being the unofficial wedding photographer! These photos are from my wedding day and I think we can agree that Judy certainly knows how to rock a hat!

Seeing as I am a milliner and I recently got married, I think it best to have a post that focuses on the headpiece that I made for myself for my wedding day. I wanted it to be quite a showpiece so who better to look for inspiration than the biggest glamourpuss that there ever was, Ms Elizabeth Taylor! I have always loved floral headpieces so I rifled through my paper flowers collection and dug out some varying sizes of flowers and wired them all up and hand beaded some sprigs and finally finishes it all off with some gold spray. I was pretty pleased with the end result and it was surprisingly lightweight so extremely easy to wear! I’ll post more about the process of making it soon

Seeing as I am a milliner and I recently got married, I think it best to have a post that focuses on the headpiece that I made for myself for my wedding day. Finally getting round to posting about it but at the start of August we got married! It was a really joyful day and it was so wonderful to have all our favourite people altogether in one place to celebrate our marriage with us. We started the day off with our ceremony at Waltham Forest Town Hall with a small ceremony of 20 people. Then straight after a drinks reception in the town hall, followed by photos out in the (very sunny!) Fellowship Square outside the town hall. Thanks so much to the team at Waltham Forest Town Hall, especially Ellie, for making us feel at ease and looking after us so well Photos are courtesy of Paul Rogers .rogers.photography and there’s lots more to follow! Then it was all back to our house for a garden party with an extra 30 or so of our friends and family who couldn’t squeeze into the Town Hall. There was food, drink, laughter, even some late night dancing and most importantly great company so all in all a very very good day! 🥰🥰🥰
