Collecting is a funny old game. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a completest but just tend to like vintage JB toys mainly. So when I saw this come up for sale I simply had to have it. I had never seen or heard about it before now. It must surely be the first James Bond toy / promotional item ever produced ?? Some 3 years before EON existed.

"James Bond" - "Ian Fleming" A 1957 Promotional toy Revolver which was sent to various stockists of the Daily Express who serialised Ian Fleming’s new novel “From Russia With Love” to help boost Book sales. This example was sent to "Messers Sanatorium Kiosk" - "Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire Scotland. Original mailaway box containing revolver in black plastic plus another but small issue in yellow plastic, also with double-sided tag with "From Russia With Love" in Red on one side side - & "Ian Fleming" in Blue on the other side. - the style of the revolver can been seen on the 1957 1st issue "From Russia With Love" hardback book.

RARE SURVIVORS. VERY MINOR WEAR TO INNER PART OF THE BOX WHERE THE WHEELS SIT, AS PICTURED. THESE MODELS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, APPEAR TO HAVE NEVER BEEN PLAYED WITH.
