On Rotation: Rocky Stripe Beach Jacket & Oatmeal Single Pleat Shorts
I still want things to feel considered but this is the time of year to let things soften a little. The Rocky Stripe Beach Jacket fits the bill nicely. Easy, textured, a bit more striking than a plain overshirt, but still very wearable. So too, the Oatmeal Single Pleat Shorts. Relaxed, fractionally preppy and a total delight to wear.
On The Menu: Kolae, Borough
Spicy Thai food is a summertime indulgence of mine. Maybe a subconscious bid to recreate the sweltering conditions of Bangkok’s street food markets. Either way, a second visit to Kolae recently confirmed that it’s my favourite Thai in London. It’s spicy, fish sauce-y and almost everything has a meaningful encounter with some open flames.
In The Glass: The Kernel Table Beer, 3% ABV
The single best beer I’ve ever had was a Kernel Table Beer pulled from the tap at Theo’s Pizza in Camberwell and served in a tumbler that had been in the freezer. It was pure nectar. For a while, Kernel Table Beer was the preserve of very good, very independent places in South East London. By some stroke of midlife luck, it’s now on the shelves of Waitrose. Time to get some tumblers in the freezer.
