The Garden Lover’s Library: 2026 stand, by , design director at , for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026.

This year’s Garden Lover’s Library reflected the growing level of design input and craftsmanship now associated with these spaces, which have become an increasingly visible part of the show’s atmosphere and visitor experience.

Titled, the Garden Lover’s Library, the stand was conceived as a domestic interior rooted in the English country house tradition. A hand-drawn wallpaper by Saumarez Smith, produced by , formed a central feature of the room. The trompe l’oeil design depicts architectural elevations, framed artworks and a garden view set against a blue-grey floral backdrop.

The installation brought together gardening, architecture and literary culture within a library setting containing more than 300 pre-1986 gardening and natural history.

Celebrating Art Deco, a defining creative movement that continues to shape the style of interiors today.

Emerging in the early 20th century and swiftly embraced worldwide, Art Deco introduced a new order of elegance and a distinct vision of space across architecture, fashion, design, and the decorative arts.

Disciplined geometry, symmetry, rich materials and a refined sense of ornament came to define an aesthetic of modern sophistication.

At Watts 1874, this legacy endures through some of our most iconic fabrics, from Brangwyn Bizarre to Bugatti Francis, inspired by the founders’ vision in the world of Architecture.

Archival motifs, structured repeats and opulent palettes reflect the movement’s visual identity, reinterpreted for contemporary interiors that continue to seek depth, rhythm and refinement.

Art Deco remains a living foundation for interior design, an enduring reference that continues to inspire today’s creative world and Watts in-house studio.
